- Board president Jo Navaretta and board member Dr. Randal Troyer were not at this meeting.
- Board recognized Aramark food service employees Debbie Whitson, Linda Salamanca, Patty Danielson, Linda Mayes, Anne Taffe, Lilian Arreguin, and Pat Gray for helping the district do well on a food servces audit.
- Board recognized Lake Havasu High School FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) fashion design students Courtney and Rebecca and their teacher Deborah Strother. The students participated in a national competition and Rebecca won a gold medal in Fashion Construction Occupational and Courtney won a silver medal in Fashion Construction Senior.
- District instructional technologist Michelle Ravnikar gave a PowerPoint presentation on use of SmartBoards in the district, SmartBoard training, and sharing of knowledge. Board recognized district SmartBoard "experts" Steve Fowlie, Bridget Hagest, Amy Parrish, and Megan Bunnell for their effective use of SmartBoards in their classrooms and for helping to train other teachers to effectively use the technology. (This is a large pdf file and may take some time to load.) - Board approved travel and expenses for four governing board members, superintendent Malay, assistant superintendent Goodwin, and Thunderbolt Middle School principal Mulligan to attend the Arizona School Boards Association Annual Law Conference in September. Board members Iannone and Hobday both commented on how valuable this conference is. Things they learn at the conference help them make educated decisions as board members. - Board approved changes to the list of extra-curricular, co-curricular, and enrichment activities approved for tax credit funds as follows:
- Nautilus Elementary School B.A.T.S. club (Building Academics Through Sports) deleted. Any funds in the club account will be transferred to the school's "all no preference" tax credit account.
- Smoketree Elementary Keyboarding Club deleted. Any funds in the club account will be transferred to the school's "all no preference" tax credit account.
- Class of 2011 organization deleted. There were no funds left in the club account.
- Class of 2015 organization added.
