Proof of residency documentation must be provided to the school each time a parent or guardian enrolls a student in a public school, and residency must be reaffirmed each year during school registration. Parents or guardians must fill out a residency documentation form and provide one of the following documents:
- Valid Arizona driver's license, Arizona identification card.
- Valid Arizona motor vehicle registration.
- Valid U.S. passport.
- Rental agreement or lease (including Section 8 agreement)
- Utility bill (water, electric, gas, cable, phone).

Teacher recruiting—why go to New York and Michigan?
Our district recently sent two staff members on teacher recruiting trips to New York and Michigan. During the May 8th meeting of the governing board, board members heard a presentation about those trips: why they were necessary, how much they cost, and how successful they were. The presentation and discussion lasted about 25 minutes, and you can watch it here.

Jamaica Elementary rated A+ for second time
Jamaica Elementary has, for the second time, been named an A+ school by the Arizona Education Foundation. Jamaica Elementary is one of 21 state schools selected for the A+ rating this year. Jamaica was named an A+ school for the first time in 2008.
Per the Arizona Education Foundation's website, the A+ School Recognition Program was created:
- To identify and give public recognition to outstanding public schools in Arizona.
- To make available a comprehensive framework of key criteria for school effectiveness that can serve as a basis for participatory self-assessment and planning in schools.
- To facilitate communication and sharing of best practices within and among schools based on a common criteria related to success.

Special Education & Gifted Program records
Special Education records (including placement records, referrals, evaluations, testing data, and other related records) must be kept by the school district for four years after a student's final year of enrollment in Special Services programs.
During May/June of 2012 we will be shredding Special Education files for students who graduated, moved out of the District, or terminated from Special Services in 2007-08.
If you wish to receive a copy of your son/daughter's special education records, please call MaryAnn Ruark at 928-505-6934, Monday-Thursday, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Gifted program records for students who graduated in 2008 will be destroyed on July 1, 2012. If you would like a copy of your records, please call Kari Kewish at 928-505-6916 during normal business hours.
(Note: Once a student turns 18, the records will only be given to them, and not a parent. There may be exceptions. If you have a question, give us a call.)
