The mission of Professional Development is to improve student achievement through the creation of a professional learning community that provides opportunities and resources for all staff.
These opportunities will:

- Explore current research in education.
- Encourage personal and professional growth.

- Improve student performance and achievement.
- Provide opportunities for staff to learn effective teaching strategies.
- Ensure that professional development trainings reflect current research and best practices in education.
- Provide opportunities for staff collaborations and networking.
- Provide connections with higher education, professional associations, and other organizations which promote professional development.
- Provide an effective beginning teacher induction program for new staff.
- Provide a supportive, caring mentor program for new staff.
- Provide staff with choices of professional development trainings for recertification and horizontal movement that is linked to school and district goals.
- Ensure that staff has access to a district web site that can be used as a resource for professional development.
