Three teachers pool efforts and obtain teaching materialsMr. Mick
Two district art teachers (Terry Mick from the High School and Carol Biehn from Jamaica Elementary) and a science teacher (Larry Mick from the High School) pooled their knowledge, time, and resources to take advantage of a special offer.  Ms. Biehn wanted her students to have more experience working on three dimensional projects.  There is a company named K'NEX (www.knex.com) that sells building sets similar to those from Erector or Lego.  Ms. Biehn heard the company had a special deal for schools.  Mr. and Mrs. Mick investigated and found there was an opportunity available.  K'NEX collects kits that are sent back by stores and makes the parts thus acquired available to schools willing to pay the freight to have them shipped.  The freight charge is the only cost involved.  Mr. Mick (see photo) now has the happy task of sorting 500 pounds of these parts into usable sets for district art teachers.
